About
The Basketball Volunteer Academy (BVA) is a 36-month Erasmus+ Sport project designed to establish a structured and scalable volunteer system for basketball. It addresses the lack of a standardized framework, ensuring that federations can recruit, train, and manage volunteers efficiently, leading to improved event organization, increased volunteer retention, and greater inclusivity in basketball. The project brings together basketball federations from Romania, Belgium, Lithuania, Greece, and Cyprus, alongside experts in sustainability and digital learning.
The system will be tested and validated at three major basketball events:
-
Youth EuroBasket U18 (2026, Romania)
-
EuroBasket Women (2027, Lithuania)
-
EuroBasket U20 (2028, Greece)
The Volunteering in Basketball Mechanism develops a structured volunteer framework and digital platform, integrating digitalization in sports to streamline volunteer recruitment and management. The BVA project will transform basketball volunteering, making it more inclusive, well-organized, and technologically advanced.
